The Energy of Wool and Linen

My personal journey exploring the special connection between two natural materials.

When I began developing my duvets made from Portuguese sheep's wool and linen, my interest went beyond the quality, warmth and sustainability of these materials.

I have always been fascinated by energy and the

influence that materials can have on us and our

living environment.

This curiosity led me to explore the energetic properties

of wool and linen.

What I discovered was fascinating.

The Energy of Wool

Wool comes from a living animal, the sheep. For me, this gives wool a special, warm and grounding energy.

Energetically, I associate wool with warmth, protection, security, softness and a connection to the animal itself. Sheep live close to the earth, connected to nature and its rhythms.

To me, wool feels like a natural embrace, as though you are being covered by the warmth and protection of nature itself.

The Energy of Linen

Linen has a very different origin. It is made from flax, a plant that grows from the earth, nourished by sunlight, water and air.

In my experience, linen carries the energy of lightness, purity, clarity, breathing space and the vitality of plants.

Where wool represents warmth and security, I experience linen as light, fresh and pure.

Two materials, each with its own character and energetic significance.

A Fascinating Story from the Bible

During my research, I also came across an ancient Biblical commandment known as Shatnez.

In the Bible, including Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:11, there are references to the prohibition of wearing wool and linen together in clothing.

This intrigued me. Why these two natural materials in particular?

I began exploring the different interpretations of this commandment. Alongside its religious meaning, I also encountered spiritual explanations that attribute different energetic properties to wool and linen.

One of the most striking claims I came across was that the frequencies of wool and linen would cancel each other out when the materials are combined, resulting in a combined energy of zero (0).

I found this a fascinating idea.

At the same time, I have not found convincing evidence that this zero can actually be measured as an energetic frequency. For me, it therefore remains a spiritual interpretation rather than a scientifically proven physical property.

But this very idea made me think.

Does zero really mean that no energy remains? Or could zero also symbolise neutrality, stillness and balance?

Wool as the Heart, Linen as the Skin

The more I explored these two materials, the stronger my feeling became that wool and linen can actually complement each other beautifully.

In my duvets, the materials are not blended together into a single fibre.

The sheep's wool forms the soft, warm heart.

The linen forms the natural outer layer that surrounds

the wool.

Each material retains its own character.

I see this as a partnership between two different forces

of nature: the animal warmth and security of wool, and

the plant-based lightness and clarity of linen.

Wool as the heart, linen as the skin.

For me, this is not a contradiction, but a natural harmony.

My Personal Beliefs

I believe that everything around us carries energy, and that the materials we surround ourselves with can mean more to us than simply their practical function.

This is one of the reasons why I consciously choose natural materials that have been processed as little as possible.

I personally collect the wool from Portuguese sheep farmers, clean it through natural fermentation without chemical additives, and then have it carded locally. Afterwards, I work the wool by hand between layers of high-quality Portuguese linen.

Even for the smallest details, I consciously choose natural materials, such as coconut buttons and biodegradable waxed linen thread.

My energetic perspective on wool and linen is personal. I do not present it as scientifically proven fact, but as part of my own journey of discovery, experiences and beliefs.

I find it truly special to create something in which nature, craftsmanship and my understanding of energy come together.

For me, a wool and linen duvet is much more than simply something to sleep under. It is an embrace of natural materials, made with care, respect and love.
